A/C Installation?

Hello,

There's a 1990 Toyota Pickup in the local paper that I am contemplating picking up. It has never had air conditioning, which is a deal breaker in the deep South.

Is there a way to install A/C in a truck that never came with it? More trouble than it's worth? Any details or experience are appreciated.

Thank you for your time

I did this to my '94. Very simple job. Everything was bolt on. All of the electrical connections were already in the truck. Plug and play. I picked up a salvaged system for about $500 complete. Buy a new dryer, expansion valve, o-rings, and belt. Use an A/C system lubricant on the connections to lubricate and swell the o-rings. My system has run trouble free for 3 years. OEM system is better than aftermarket IMO.

This was on a 22re. V6 model may be more difficult.

^^^^ waht he said. Should be able to have it all in in a couple of hours, as long as you get all your parts together before you get started. Toyta has everything prewired from the factory for AC on their cars that dont come with it. We used to install a lot of them on Tercels and Tacos when I was working at the dealership. I dont know that you would still be able to buy it from the dealer but you may check into a full kit from the dealer jsut for the heck of it. If you can get it for a couple of hundred bucks more you might as well by the time you buy the salvage stuff then have to buy the new parts to replace some of them. It is worht a shot but dont get your hopes up on the dealer being able to help you out on that old of a complete system.
