Dif Lock Bypass

Hey guys,
I've just had my double cab 2002 Tacomoa TRD Off Road a few months. It didn't come with an owners manual and I haven't bought a shop manual yet, so I'm hoping for your help here.
First, the story behind my question:
It seems that the electronic dif lock only locks the dif when the transfer case is in 4x4. If I push the dif lock button in 2x4, a dif lock light in the dash blinks - When I put her in 4x4 the light stops blinking, and lights solid... So I'm assuming that the dif only locks when in 4x4 (I can't remember about 4H vs. 4L). I don't understand why I can't lock the dif whenever I want - The Prerunners with dif locks obviousely allow the dif to lock when in 2x4.
Now here's my question:
I want to bypass the wiring that is keeping me from locking the dif when I'm in 2x4 - Does anyone have the details how to accomplish this modification, such as which wires do I need to access, and what to do with them?
Thanks,
Jason

Not sure if this might be of use for you but I saw this.

This tech article at CT shows you how you can make it so you can use the Locker in 4HI

If I find anything about using the locker in 2WD I'll let you know.

Thanks cam2xrunner, that was exactly the information that I was looking for. I really appreciate it. It's good news to find out how easy the mod is to make too!

Thanks cam2xrunner - I did the mod and it was just a 20 minute job. I appreciate the link too, a lot of other good info on more mods to make.

Now that I've made this mod, and since I still don't have a manual - Can I press the dif lock button at any speed, or do I need to be stopped?

its a good idea to be stopped. engaging the locker at speed could damage it.
