Fuel Gauge Problem.

i have a 94 p/u 2wd 22re and the fuel gauge just shut off today about 35 miles after i filled it. the light still works and so do the other gauges. anyone have any ideas...its really annoying. thanks.

If I were you I would first take off the dash to get to the gauge cluster assembly. Then remove the four screws around it, and check all of the wires to make sure none are freyed. Then I would try to trace wire running from the fuel gauge. You can also check your diagnostic codes which might help. If all else fails test for a electrical current in the wires, and check the fuel pump, etc.

is there anyway it could be the fuel sending unit by the tank? it was a suggestion of one of my friends. how would i go about checking that?

If yo have a Haynes manual for the truck you can look it up in there. If you don't have one you can look on the internet. There are manuals out there.

it was just a loose wire coming out of the tank... i stripped it and reconnected it with the one that was hanging down...duh... and then checked it and it worked... so its all good now
