theyd be essentially the same... the turbo would have less compression though so when ya go back to na it would be down on power compared to a proper na one... but errr... why take the turbo off?

edit: what motor

the motor is a 22r right now the truck needs a new motor the one in the truck rite now is lock or something like that thats what the owner is telling me that it need a new or a rebuild.
the reason i was thinking of taking the turbo off is because in my opinion a na motor is more realible then a tubo one and besides the turbo is leaking oil and needs a rebuid

Trust me, you want to rebuild that engine. Turbo 22res are getting harder and harder to find making them cost more. One plus is they have a bit more power that just a stock 22re. But if you want to put something else in it, I suggest a 350, because that is the best type of engine for these trucks. If you want reliability stick with a 22r/22re. But for sheer fun I say keep the turbo motor and rebuild it (yourself if you can). It would be a great learning experience.

First, I'd love to take all those turbo parts off you're hands if you go to an NA engine. I don't care if it needs to be rebuult or not.

Second, if it came to putting a different (other than a 22 series motor) I'd recommend getting a Supra/Cressida engine. (5mge or a 7mgte) They pretty much bolt right in, and the 7 series turbo can very easily crank out 5-600hp for next to no money and still give you well over 20mpg on the freeway....also weighs in WAY lighter than a V8, so it'll still handle decently as well. Plus it lacks the low end torque of a V8 that would eat you're running gear for lunch. Check it out, there's a ton of info about it out there.

Just my 2 cents anyway.....
