Australia 1999 LandCruiser 1HD-FTE - No Key :-(

Hi guys,

I have just bought a damaged 1999 VX Limited LandCruiser fitted with a 1HD-FTE intercooled turbo diesel engine. I bought the vehicle at auction and, although it was supposed to be provided with a master ignition key, it wasn't :-( I now need to figure out how to get the engine going so that I can test the engine, transmission and self-levelling suspension before I start my restoration project.

I genuinely own this vehicle and bought it with the intention of using up some spare parts left over from a previous LandCruiser restoration (2001 GXL with the same engine - 1HD-FTE).

Also, can anyone please tell me if the 1HD-FTE intercooled turbo diesel is/has been sold in the USA?

Thanks in advance for any help with this,
John

As far as I know you cannot get the turbo diesel version of that engine over here. They did have a straight 6 Gasoline, naturally aspirated version.

For your key problem, get the vin # of the vehicle and proof of ownership and have your Toyota dealer make a key off the vin #. I'm also guessing that you will need a key with the transponder in it. I could be wrong though.
