Different Timing Chain Settings?

Let me know if you have ever heard of this one.

Bought piece of junk. Dropped new engine and transmission.

Have no power, take it to local toyota dealer. Dealer says timing chain installed wrong. Engine company says impossible.

Dealer says has 3 settings:
1. low power, low gas use - dealer said it was set to this
2. mid, mid - most common
3 high, high

The engine company says they won't cover work because the dealer is crazy.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this???

what type of engine do you have? i'm guessing 22r (or varient). timing chains on these motors are kinda weak. if you are going to work on the timing chain/ modify the engine, you should just switch to the double row timing chains from the 20r, they are better.

about the engine company thing, it is not uncommon
