I want to clear something up. If you put a spool in your front diff. it will only work with 4x4 right?

yes, it will be a pain in the ass to turn with the hubs locked in though, regardless if in 4wd or not there will be lots of tire scrub

not a good idea. if you drive your truck on the street, don't put in a spool, as it permenantly locks the differential. they should only be put in the rear anyway. a locker would fit your needs much better i am guessing.
