how much should i sell my pickup for?

I'm looking to sell my 88 yota pickup. has the 22R w/4spd and 2WD. just swapped out the clutch master cylinder for a brand new one, 4 brand new 205/75/14 tires, absolutely nothing wrong with the truck except for cosmetic things such as a dent on the passenger side door about 8-10 inches long, little bits of surface rust in the bed, and a rusting muffler. has 209K miles, original motor and the such. all filters and fluids changed. my dad thinks i can get $2k for it. I've seen a couple on craigslist, like 84-88s, with better bodies but with engine probs (blown headgasket, blown engine, etc) that are going for around $900-$1100. u guys think that $2k is a reasonable price or should i come down on the price? thanks in advance

sounds reasonable to me. As long as it runs and drives good, the dents are just normal wear and tare. After all, its 17 yrs old, and doesnt have to look perfect. Id try starting at 2,000 and maybe go a little lower. By all means you should be able to get 1500 out of it if its in the condition you described it as, but you be the judge. The trucks that you see that sell so cheap with motor problems is because a headgasket or motor is really expensive to replace. Thats why they're so cheap.

Just for a reference, I recently bought a 1984 2WD 5 speed pickup for $1400.00. The interior was in real good shape, the body (long bed) pretty good, owner had just put $1000 into it, including new tires, new radiator, etc...It runs well and has 179,000 miles on it. Judging from all the other ones I saw advertised, your price range is probably between 1500-2000, at least here in Los Angeles area. There are plenty for sale, but plenty of persons looking for them.

2k is a bit high for a stock 88 2wd. they are a dime a dozen. try for some knucklehead to give u 2k but expect around 1000. these trucks are scattered all over the country for 500 bucks.

If I could find one for $500, I'd snatch it up fast so I could put a 350 in it, then sell the one I have and buy something more fuel efficient.

this was good info for me. I have a 85 with new motor, head, valves, alt, clutch and battery. I just put in a new center link. Got the ac to work this weekend. I was thinking of selling mine for like 1200, but now I know it's worth alot more. I only gave $200 for the truck, however I did have to spend $350 for the new short block and $175 for the head.
