seeking opinions on purchasing used truck - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

Along with contemplated a used camry when the time comes we are also contemplating a Toyota truck, maybe a 2000-2002 model. Are there any inherent problems with any of the models? is one engine type better than the other? are they real gas hogs? any options i should have?

would prefer a 6 ft bed and do not need a supercab type.

Let me know what you think about your truck and what model/yr it is. thanks

I have a 2000-Pre-Runner, and so far so good..It has the 2.7 engine which gets about 22-23miles per gallon.

How many miles on it? did you buy it new?

Right now it has about 57,000 miles, I bought it used in 2003 with 35,000miles.

Tacomas are pretty much bullet proof. I bouht my '99 new and now it's got 104,xxx miles on it and I think it just got broken in. I've heard stories where trucks can last 200-300,000 miles if maintained properly. You can't go wrong with a 'Yota.
