Wire Tapping

I finally got my remote starter installed last night, but I'm only missing 2 wires for the alarm. The problem is, that the wires are hard to get to, and ofcourse even harder to strip with an exacto blade. Does anybody know of a tool that can strip a wire from the middle without cutting it, or am I stuck with a razor?

Yeah, you can get them from like a Radio Shack or Pep Boys or Kragen/Shucks.

Doesnt seem as effective as a solder job for some reason, but that might work. I'll have to get some cash tomorrow and test that out.

Those taps are what came with my Hella driving lamps I installed on my wife's Honda Pilot, works like a charm.

Yeah, they work great. I use 'em all the time. Just make sure that your wires are in there good and then squish it down with a good set of pliers.

I have used them a lot, also. Experts seem to doubt their reliability, but my T100 trailer wiring has been faithful for 11 years. Where the taps are exposed to rain and mud I wrap them carefully with electricians tape. Another suggestion--make sure you use the correct size for the wire. I wired the wife's truck trailer connector with some a size too large and one of the connections is intermittent.
