i remembered the firing order and set up the plugs...they are set...I Cannot get the distributor right...the truck will not start...i dont know why im having so much trouble with this, maybe its because its toyotas distributor design with no points...anyway, i set the #1 cylinder, put the rotor at #1, and put the distributor back in, still wont start...can somone please tell me whats going on or tell me what to do....i dont have a timing light, i usually go by ear...i cant find the points of the cam and crank cause everything is so crowded, cant see them...any help would be appreciated...

Ouch, I guess you broke the cardinal sin of not marking it.
The firing order is 123456. 135 are the left bank, front to back, 246 rt bank.
If the timing is messed, you'll have to align the timing mark at 0deg with #1 at TDC on compression stroke. Then install the distrib with the rotor at # 1 position. good luck.

If you line up the rotor, or other landmark, to the right spot and then insert the distributor, it usually turns as the helical gears engage and the timing winds up being off. Is this the case with your truck?

Have a drink and think on it. Sometimes a fresh start brings things into focus.
You can do this!

If you know the wires are correct, follow the wire from #1 cyl(there should be an index mark for #1), mark the position on the dist and remove the cap to check the rotor position.
