E-85

The gas prices are getting rediculous, and I'm ready to get something else. My only problem is money, and I dont want to lose all the work and time I've spend on my truck. Chevy's V8/E-85 engine looks like a good, temporary alternative, but I wouldnt be getting much better milage with a V8, just cheaper fuel. So, my question is, whats the differance between the 5.3 e-85 engine and the 5.3 gasoline engine, and would it be possible to make a 22-re run on E85?

From what I can tell from a little bit of research is that there is no differance between an FFV engine and a Gasoline engine. The differance between Gasoline and E85 is that E85 contains more oxygen and is more corrosive than Gasoline, so the main conversions that would need to be made would be a stainless steel gas tank, teflon lined fuel hoses, modified fuel injectors, modified fuel filter, modified fuel pump and a modified ECU that will use less air when more Ethanol is in the system.

Your gonna spend a $1000+ on all that stuff to save maybe .50 cents a gallon. Do the math on time to recover your investment.
It's like buying a hybrid. Do you spend $25K on a hybrid or $12K on an economical car that gets 30-40 mpg? On the hybrid you need to buy new batteries after about 3 years at about $3K also.
Suck it up and be thankful you have a car, house and job. Donate that $1000+ dollars to our neighboring states that have lost everything.
