Toyota RV

I acquired a 1979 Toyota dually RV. 20R runs fine but the front brakes are shot. I have seen calipers for the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton but almost all of them say "Not for one ton Dually box truck" (U-Haul stuff I guess). The vehicle has a VIN from the RV manufacturer so no hope to look it up there. I don't see any numbers on the current calipers...

Anybody got any ideas how to figure out what I have?

Good luck figuring out "what" your truck is. When I went to transfer the title to mine they couldnt figure out what it was but they let me title it as a pickup. The insurance company also gave me hassle about it too. They made me show them pictures cause they listed it as a cube van or some crap.

On the good side tho is that autozone and murrays both list lots of parts for 1ton dually. I just looked up calipers and they came out to $43 per side.

Thanks for the input...I still can't find it on Autozone I can find a diff for an 87 but not a 79

Not familiar w/ Murray's "down south here". I didn't see anywhere to order on-line with them...are they call in only?

Naw, murrays is a walk in store. Their website blows. But locally they tend to have better stuff in stock than the autozones around.

on a side note... I looked up 79 pickup brake caliper and 87 1ton dually brake caliper on autozone website. The part number came up the same. C8613 for driver side and C8612 for passenger side. Id be willing to bet that most yota parts between those years are going to be the same.

Back then foreign makers built vehicles that worked, and if they worked, they left them alone. Unlike domestics, who build vehicles just so they can sell another one in a few years
