Doing a diesel engine swap with a 22R.

Anyone know about the 22RELB engine that Toyota made? Its the diesel 2.4 L non-turbo, and I found a place to buy one. Since this diesel gets better gas mileage than my current 22R, I am thinking of putting one in my truck, I also just love diesel engines. Does anyone know about doing an engine swap from a 22R 5-speed manual tranny 4wd truck to a diesel engine? Can I keep the same transmission? Etc... Thanks

The diesel engine you are talking about is known as a 2L there is no such thing as a 22RELB,the sites below have complete conversion info including sources of used parts for excellent prices:

The way the price of gasoline (petrol for Australians) is going I suggest that everyone convert their Toyotas to diesel as they are more:

fuel efficient
higher torque
waterproof
simpler
reliable
safer
can idle all day long
less overheat episodes
can burn bio diesel or vegetable oil (without glycerin)

Well to help everyone dismiss the myth that Toyota diesel pickups & SUV's are rare in USA & Canada I have included below a list of very resourcefull links that contain places to buy diesel engines/parts and complete rigs.

Toyota diesel engines models: 2L's, 2L-T's, 3L's and 5L ‘s for sale in the greater Los Angeles area:

This is a great video from Top Gear featuring a 1985 Toyota 2L Hilux diesel that is put through some astonishing torture tests in an attempt to "break it".

im planning on doing the same swap, i originally wanted the 5VZ-E Swap but if i do that engine im gonna go all out and prolly take it to around 400HP but really and trully thats gonna take a long time and to much money, sooooo i seen www.toyotadiesel.com and started reading, looks like i can get a turbo diesel thats 3.0 to swap out my gas 3.0 with around the same 150HP but the TQ is alot more so i shouldent have any problems accelerating but i love speed so im stuck in the middle of 5VZ-E 400HP and diesel engine but once i read more and see how easy and efficent it is to get more hp out of the diesel illl make up my mind .................oh the turbo 3.0 gets around 20+MPG in the city thats great
