I'm looking into getting a 1999-2004 Tacoma Prerunner sometime soon, but I'd like to get one with a 2.7 I-4. The reason is because I want to save on gas and the only thing I'll be hauling are my motorcycles to and from the track.

Were these available with a manual tranny? I really don't want an automatic, so if it's not avilable, i'll probably have to opt for a Frontier Desert Runner.

Does anyone else load bikes on their Prerunners? Is it hard? Thanks.

I think that the '99-'04s were only available with an automatic tranny. I know that the '05s are only available with a manual tranny.
As far as hauling bikes in a PreRunner, its not any harder hauling bikes in them than any other compact truck.
