Question Tacoma Possessed?

Hello all,

I was curious if one of you guys might be able to help me out. Today my 1996 Tacoma was sitting in the drive way when all of the sudden the starter started engaging. Like someone was trying to start it. Of coarse, it was in gear so it lept forward hitting my dads new Tundra . He jumped in the truck and mashed the clutch but the starter kept cranking w/o the engine starting. It eventually quit on its own and we are unable to recreate it. About the only things we can come up with are the starters shorted, starter relay, or ingnition switch. Have any of you guys heard of this one or have any advice for tracing the problem?

Thank you
~J

I had a thing called THe Mule at work do the same, it went off of a hillside and thru a fence. We figured it was the ignition switch that was causing the problem, so you might get that checked out.

Thanks for your post guys....I think a bottle of holy water may well be in order. I was able to recreate the phenomenon earlier. With ingnition off and a light tap to the starter I could get it to turn over. Crazy thing, everyone I talked to has never heard of this. So I'm off to get a starter. Thanks for the help guys.

3rd Generation

If it does happen again I think you have to either shoot it with a silver bullet....or was it....stab it with a wooden stake?!? j/k (Holy water was pretty funny to me!)

I agree with the last post, you should check out the ignition first, beings how it connects the battery to the starter, and until you do that you might want to remove it's heart (battery).
