Can anyone check VIN #?

Can anyone check a VIN Number for me? I have a 98 Tacoma TRD that I've had for 6 years, just paid it off in July 04. I recieved a letter yesterday that my toyota had a claim as a "total loss" before I purchased it. A salvage title was never recieved, therefore State Farm has offered a settlement of $3,000, and is sending a new title.
It's driving me nuts not knowing what kind of damage was done to my truck, since it rides and drives perfectly. I've never had any problems with it in 6 years, and there is no visual blemishes what so ever. The value is $11,150.......until I recieve the new title which says it is junk.
If someone has a pass to Carfax or another way of recieving this information, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't know when I'll recieve the new title, or if that information is on the title. If someone can help me out, I can PM the VIN. Soon as I get through this ordeal, and brand new Tacoma 4X4 will be in my driveway. I've seen my last used vehicle.
Thanks, Randy

here's #

4TAWN72N1WZ064383 is the VIN, just in case someone would at least run it and tell me I'm Screwed.........it was on the bottom of the ocean or something. I'm puzzled that it seems like a perfect truck, but it was a total loss before it hit 17,000 miles. I've now got 92,000 miles and still going strong. I have friends fighting over who gets to buy it when I'm ready to sell.
Thanks

Update

I have a carfax now, obtained from a local used lot at no charge. Right now it's clean. Apparenty the salvaged title hasn't been released yet. So I have no way of knowing what kind of crap my Toy has been through, unless I could come up with the scumbag's name that sold it knowing it was salvaged. If anyone is interested, I'll post my findings if I ever come up with any.

i heard that they salvage a vehicle if the air bags deploy. previous owner could have bumped something. Our F150's airbags deployed, and the only damage was the very lowwest part of the bumper got punched through the frame.

I know this post is a few weeks old but I just wanted to add my 2 cents. A vehicle can be salvaged for many simple reasons. My brother bought a car that had been given a salvaged title for being stolen and the leather upholstery being taken. When a car is stolen, it's hard to say what it has been put through and if there has been physical damage or parts were removed then it could be deamed Salvaged. Also like the quote above, deployed airbags can be another reason. If you did a carfax or lemon report on the vehicle, it shoud state the reason why it is salvaged. For $30 you can sign up for CARFAX online and get all the reports you want for 30 or 60 days. It might be worth checking the vin there just in case. Good luck with your findings!
