Accel 300+ Ignition system on aa 22R

I just got finished installing an accel 300+performance ignition on my carb 22R and thought I'd do a little writeup for those who follow in my foot steps

#1 perchasing components
For this instalation you will need one of the two options for accel 300+ universal ignitions. The options are the Universal ignition with matched coil and one without the coil. I bought the one with the coil. One thing you must know is that in order to use the included coil you must first purchase Accel 300+(or other)Spiral core wires. DO NOT USE SOLID CORE WIRES. You will need to purchase a cil wire kit with fittings and boots for both standard and HEI ignitions because the coil has an HEI conector. One thing I found out when installing mine is You need to have spiral core wires inorder to start the enginew. The coil puts out so much voltage that the spark was grounding out before the sparkplug.

For those who do not want to spend the extra money on the wires and plugs I suggest you get the ignition without the coil. You can use your stock coil or what I am using until I get new plugs an wires is an old accel super stock coil.

#2 Mounting

First thing you should know is that if you deside to use the included coil you must mount it tht stock coil is mounted. you however will not need to mount it to the stock igniter. YOu may mount the the ignition box in any position you want. I mounted it to the side of the engine compartment seer the fire wall.

#3 Wiring. with the coil
Before you do any wireing disconect the neg. terminal on the battery.

Conect both included wire harnesses to the ignition box.

The red wire will connect to the switched + power wire. This is the thick brown wire that connected to the stock igniter.

Next connect the Yellow wire to the (+) wire comming from the coil.(the + and - temanals are labled in side the female plug on the coil.)

Connect the brown wire to both (-) wires (there are two of them)

Now move on to the next wire harness. Conect the Violet wire to the Pink wire comming from the disributor and the orange wire will connect to the white wire coming from the distributor.

The wite wire on the ignition box harness will not be used. The green wire is for an aftermarket tachometer.

Before I forget connect the Black wire from the ignition box directly to ground.

Installation using the stock coil

Everything is the same as above except you will connect the yellow wire to the pink wire at the coil and the brown will conect to the white coil wire.

My lunch break is almost over so I have toi stop. I will have picture hopfully when I get home tonight.
