Good affectionate lap dogs. A little high strung sometimes, likes to bark a lot at least all of ours have in the past. But they are good dogs, smart, and friendly, and dont get very big.

I need a new dog for my g.f. for xmas what do u guys recommend it?
My friend has some beagels on there way his bitch is about to have some puppies anyone have a beagle? What are they like, do they get big?
She likes labs when there puppies but they get pretty big. Something small would be cool. What you guys think?
With apologies to those who own them, Beagles can be a real PITA. They stay fairly small. People who owned my house before me had one, the neighbors hated it. Always barking, high energy. We used to have a neighbor with one, could hear us 5 houses away and start barking. Wouldn't stop.
I personally love labs, you can always look for someone who breeds them small. Best temperment I've ever met. I've got friends with Vizlas, high energy, but smaller than labs. Shiba's are great dogs, but you've got to be tough with them (cousins to Akitas). I don't know how long it takes boxers to settle down, but I know a 1 year old who's got lots of learning to do. Very sweet dog, high energy.
Make sure you're getting good medical certs if you're getting a purebred. Or, go the the pound, get a mutt, and have a wonderful dog also.

Thanks, i really want a boxer too. But its for her she wants a small dog. Ill check into a lab. That lab picutred above looks sweet.
My boy pictured in previous page is Vizsla. He was high energy for first couple year but he's mellowing down now. Very nice companion dog but little big as a lap dog
Sorry have to agree with yfzjen and RTFM, beagles I've known they're vocal, couples like to howl too. Every breed has pros and cons, you may get one doesn't bark much (especially if you can check out the sire and dam) or you're willing to work with it then it's fine too.

A Boxer, I have 2 of them 1 male 1 female. Easily trained, very clean and very smart had them house broke in about 3 month's, crate trained on command in about 4 month's. They will knock the blinds on the back door when they have to go out, some people use a bell hanging from the door knob but my 2 year old daughter would not leave it alone. They are people dog's though alway's want to be with you, I have a 10x40 kennel I keep them in sometimes and they won't use the bathroom in there they will hold it for hour's till they get out. Males get about 70lbs and females 60-65lbs on a well balanced diet.

My friends boxer is a runt female, At 1 year old she's only 45 pounds, but all muscle. She's really tiny as boxers go, about 18" at the shoulder. I'll look for a pic of her with my 70# lab. She's much smaller than all the other boxers I've seen.
