Ok so today I was surfing the net and found this website that sells Left Hand Drive Toyota Hilux DIESEL 4x4 trucks???? Here is the catch the website is based out of Tailand wich makes me wonder if the site is legit or not? Here is the link.. http://www.sonirodban.com/vigo.html Does anyone have any info or expereince with this company??
Probably legit. If you wanted to import one, you could get an importer in the US to handle the transaction for you. You will find that it will end up being VERY expensive to import one gray market.
From what i've heard, its a bitch to import cars. They have meet all US laws, and it seems like I remember reading that you have to explain WHY you want to import it (ie, classic car to do shows, restore it, put it in a museum) or some such thing. I don't think it's as easy as "I want a car we can't get in the US, put it on the boat please." Back when 2 fast 2 furious came out years ago I remember a lot of talk on the import tuner forums about importing a skyline and how it was damn near impossible. Also, someone managed to DO it, but many of the posters seemed to think he was driving it illegally (more or less just because he got it here and WAS driving it.). Although passenger side drive (be that left or right hand drive). That may have made a difference. If you can get a hilux with the steering on the driver (left) side of the truck it might be easier.

Luckly I live in Canada and our vehicle import laws are a very relaxed. I've always been interested in the Hilux Deisel, but the fact that you could only get it in right hand drive was a turn off, but now that I see you can get it in left hand drive straight from the factory.. my gears are turning!!
What do you mean by that? Top Gear could probably bring any car they wanted over here to "test". They have a legal department and more money than any of us to get things done.
Also, up near where Artic Trucks is based you probably NEED a diesel or a helluva engine warmer to run gas. I've heard people that never shut the engine off cuz if they did it wouldn't start in the morning.

I thought you were in disbelief that the diesel hilux's existed....so I posted the link.
Sorry, misunderstood your first post.
Ah. ok. That clears it up for me too! lol
I think he was just surprised (as was I) that they made a left hand drive model... Seems like they'd have to retool a plant to do that... Maybe they'll come to the US eventualy?!? Yeah right though.

Diesel's are the ones that have a problem starting in the cold, not gasoline engines. And yes, they generally do keep diesels running in the cold. Same with hospitol ambulances that are on call in the cold weather. So they do not run into problems starting. Diesels sold in cold weather climates generally do come with block heaters, or at least as an option.
Diesels are much more thermoefficient compared to gasoline motors. Which means they lose much less energy to heat, more power from combustion is used to power the vehicle and less energy (heat) escapes.
