Sadly enough, my past truck was a Ford! And I am a Ford fan, it kills me to say that I am no longer driving a Ford. But instead a Toyota because it has everything I want and need in a truck. Listen, if you want to stand here in front of tons of Toyota owners, and prospective owners going on a rant defending the Ranger, be my guest. We can discuss back and forth forever on different features and on different reasons why the Ranger is no longer being continued. In fact I highly urge you to PM me and we can have this discussion 'til its end instead of jackin this guy's thread.

My posts were simply to give reasons why some people purchased the Tacoma over the competition, and why the Tacoma seems to hold its value so well. The undeniable truth here (as I mentioned in my first post to this thread) is that not a single car manufacturer is close to the reliability and dependability that Toyota can ensure. There is no better bargaining chip in the used car market place like saying "This is a Toyota Tacoma and it is the most reliable mid-size/compact/whatever-else-you-want-to-call-it pick-up truck there is currently on the road."

So we agree that the resale value of our truck has more to do with the Toyota name than the opinion meauxjeaux made that the Tacoma hasn't changed much from the original truck? It is unfortunate that Ford is discontinuing the Ranger. Surprisingly the Ranger outsold the Tacoma in 2006 even though it is an outdated model.

I previously owned several ford mustangs so you could say I was a ford guy. When it came time to buy a truck I wanted a regular cab 4 cylinder with no frills. I looked at rangers, but the Toyota reputation for reliability made me go trest drive a Tacoma. I have had my '07 for almost 2 years now it has 20k on it and other than regular oil chnges the hood has never been opened. I liked the toyota so much that when it was time for the wife to get a car she wanted a small compact 4 door that got great mileage. We now have an '07 Yaris in the garage. Crazy as this sounds I have driven 5.0 mustangs modded to the hilt, but that little Yaris has to be the most fun car I have ever driven. It has plenty of get up and go for the interstate and handles like an overgrown go-cart. I love driving it and my tacoma. If they continue to hold up like they are now Toyota has a new life long customer here.

by the OP argument about not changing adds to the value......then Rangers should be worth a mint.
