I love that video every time I see it! I love Top Gear's stuff too! They're funny as hell.
That truck was a diesel.....and one of the best toy trucks ever built (IMHO). I've always loved toyota quality, but these new trucks...... No way in hell they're anywhere close to the old toy trucks in durability. Like any business in the world....they all go through cost cutting & pinching/squeezing production/design areas to make more profits.
Already these newer trucks are showing weaknesses...... clutch problems, tailgates bending, tranmissions problems, suspension weaknesses, etc etc etc. Definately NOT a sign of *strength*.

I'd LOVE to see them do the exact same type of testing (for the most part) on the newer trucks PLUS the exact same tests on all the other similar pick-ups.
1) I doubt they'd want to buy a new truck (plus ford, chevy, dodge, etc) just to destroy them
2) I doubt any of the manufacturers would give them a truck to destroy
Our trucks do have their weaknesses, but that doesn't mean that they couldn't handle a lot of damage. Our trucks just have a few problems that we would prefer to change, but how many of us have had a problem where the truck wouldn't run. Probably not many.
