What do you guys think? I know that my '05 isn't quite the tank that my older Toyotas were, but they are still great and the best option out there IMO.

When you are #1 for so long, everyone is gunning for you. If Toyota doesn't change anything to make it better (because they are already #1) others will catch up.
No big deal. If you are happy with your Toyota...Clap your hands!!

Opinions are like Buttholes....Everyone has one! They all can stink at one time or another!
Just because you have one doesn't mean you have to act like one!
Have you hugged your kids today?
I loved that part:
"But 20 of the 44 "least reliable" models named by Consumer Reports were also from domestic manufacturers." What about the remaining 24 models, or 55%? Were they European, Korean, Japanese?
Not at all biased, are we?
I went to consumer reports and their complaints are regarding the 4x4 Tundra and the V6 Camry(because of the transmission.) Our Tacomas are still up there in reliability.
there goes our resale value. lol i have heard that ford is improving finally. i wonder how they do reliability "testing." i dont quite understand that.

I agree with the fact that Toyota is losing ground.
I have never owned a car / truck that was as often in the shop for repairs as my Toyota. Actually, I am pretty sure that this Tacoma spent more time in the shop then all my previus vehicles over 20 years combined.
No, I am not kidding, and I am not trying to bash Toyota. It's true, unfortunately. I still like the Tacoma, though. Kinda strange, probably because the service was pretty good.
Those rankings are always about 3 years behind, so that survey was looking at the 2005 model year. I believe 2005 was a big year for complete redesigns and new launches for Toyota...and with new models/redesigns always comes a high amount of "quirks" (i.e. some early 2005 Tacoma's had a lot of issues). You'll probably see them steadily climb towards #1 again over the next year or two simply because those surveys will reflect fewer new models/redesigns. Toyota is usually pretty good at shaking all the bugs out of their designs by the 2nd and 3rd model years.

From what I've been reading recently Toyota corporate has implemented some very stringent new quality standards on their factories and their suppliers to quell these recent concerns of quality dropping off. I'm sure when Toyota corporate in Japan got word of this story today from Consumer Reports that they were pretty agitated. It's also ironic that Toyota's Honorary Chairman Mr. Toyoda is in the U.S. this week. I feel Toyota will get this addressed ASAP and will be back on top again very soon.

Not according to the '07 F150 rental I have (Tacoma being repaired due to encounter with drunk illegal). This thing is a total POS. And to think I was a Ford fan for many years...I must've been the drunk one.
