Taco is great and more economical (trd S/C if u wanna go fast) and the tundra has tons of power right off the line and sucks up gas like no ones business. so take your pick!

Taco or Tundra

Big difference between the two as Toyota is building a series of trucks for each need.
Depending if you are hauling heavy trailers/motorhome etc. Then its a tundra, big V8 and the chassis weight to pull m/h's . I did see where Toyota is replacing the camshaft in certain engines in the Tundra. Lets face it the truck is brand new for the most part and there are bound to be some problems. At least Toyota is taking the heat for it, its pretty hard to blame the consumer when a camshaft has problems. No manual shift in any Tundra.

Tacoma's are great trucks with in there limits, certainly better on fuel. The just don't haul the goodies in the same payload range as Tundra's.
You just have to make your choice on what you need it for. I have friends who have both and they all love 'em and they last.

I just bought my 08 Tacoma. I had to wait a full two months on it because I wanted one in the available advertised color of Desert Sand Mica. There were only (5) Desert Sand Tacomas scheduled for this (5) state region for the last 3 months of 2007. Mine was one of them. I could have gotten a Tundra for a couple of thousand cheaper and in a weeks time as hundreds of the Desert Sand Tundras come off the line in San Antonio each week.

The Tundra is WAY too big for me and my uses. I like getting 20 MPG not 13 on a good day as the Tundra would deliver. I wasn't real keen on purchasing 18" tires in a couple of years either, ouch, that would hurt the wallet bad. And the Tacoma barely fits my garage as it is, no way the Tundra would have fit so I would have a new vehicle I would "have" to leave outside.

My computer password at work right now for the next few weeks is, "notundra". Easy for me to remember! To each his own but I prefer the Tacoma. It has 36 more HP's than my old 93 4.0L Cherokee had so I got a newer vehicle that goes faster than my old one did but gets the same mileage while pulling more weight.

Depends on your needs. If you are going to tow alot, without a doubt go with the Tundra. The 5.7 is nice engine but I have been getting 11 mpg, it really sucks. Also the payload is pretty close.

Im in the market as well for a new truck here probably in the next 6 months and just looking around trying to see whats out there, and thats interesting that your only getting 11 mpg's. my old silverado averages right around 13/14 hauling around my fishin boat. i was actually looking at the tundra because they seem to be able to haul anything with that 5.7, but the 11 mpg's may quickly change that thinkin...

thanks for the great info!

ya something tells me i will be driving a truck powered by AA batteries here pretty soon HA! well i do tow around my boat quite a bit, once/twice a month, but other than that nothing too demanding as far as that goes. Ive driven my friends tacoma around a few times and really liked how it handled, but wasnt to impressed with the interior options. i know that with technology becoming more and more a part of the auto industry, i guess im waiting for all the latest bells and whistles to become available too. so as you can see, im still lost when it comes to finding exactly what i want.

what do you drive da hui?
