I think I saw someone on this site that had acquired a M105 military trailer and was pulling it with their Tacoma. If so, can anyone tell me how the Tacoma handles this trailer loaded and unloaded. I believe the empty weight of a M105 is around 2700 lbs.
Thanks.

Obligatory....... why do you want to tow a 2700LB military trailer(and yes I was in the military), and would someones answer(no matter what it was) actually help you?
If your stoked on the overweight trailer I say get it, or borrow it and tow with it.

^agreed. If you're looking for an expedition/camping trailer like above I'd look at something lighter. I mean, 2700lbs and you haven't even loaded it with gear yet!

Yea I agree too, but at the time it was a good deal. I have now purchased a smaller version. I got it through government liquidations. It weighs 975lbs, much lighter that the first one I bought through the same location.
Here is a pic...what do you think? No bad for $250 huh?

Just go to www.govliquidation.com and loock for trailers in your area close to you. Just like ebay for liquidated military equipment.
Just type in what your looking under "keyword"
Sweet! Thanks!
I tried getting in a repo/police auctions one time and it turned out to be a scam. Cost $99 to get the material, never got a refund, and then the contact number was disconnected.

Yea...you gotta watch those police type auctions. But, for what its worth, the site I gave you is legit. Easy to work with. The only problem is finding the item you want at a base close to you.
Forgot to mention, if you were interested, the model I have now is the M101A1. The first one that I got (the big one) is the M105A3. Search either one and you should find something.
Also, check often, because new auctions for trailers come up ALL THE TIME.
Anyway, good luck.

Yeah thanks again! i'm already drooling as the bids start out at $50 in Mechanicsburg, PA (not too far from me!!!), and have ZERO bids on most of them!
So if I can get a trailer for $50 to haul my wood pellets I'd be happy as a pig in shit!!
I'm probably looking at the big one you got first. Rather heavy for off road/expedition use like I'd like to do later, but with a 3,000lb capacity it would easily handle the 2,000lb pellet pallets we pick up monthly during the winter! Would save trying to cram them in my truck since the forklift driver could just set the whole damn pallet in there!
I just need to contact the DMV on Monday I think and see what I need to legally tow the thing back to my house if I buy one. Do they have a VIN on them that I can give to the DMV?
Hell, for $50 I could buy a small one AND a big one!
Especially considering most of the trailers at Tractor Supply, Lowes, etc are $600-$900 minimum, and have lower GVWR's. Just need to get the right hitch for the truck.

Small world, I bought mine in Mechanicsburg, PA too. The M105's go cheaper than the M101's. Good thing is, that base has ALOT of trailer auctions for some reason. I did some research on some other forums (www.steelsoldiers.com) and most just trailer them home with a pair of magnetic lights on them.
As far as the VIN, pretty sure that they have them and you shouldn't have any problem getting it tagged when you get it home.
If you end up getting one...send my a pic.
Also, if you need any help with the "EUC" after the auction....give me a shout. Took me a bit to get the hang of it, but its a breeze after you figure it out.

EUC isnt too bad...just 2 pages regarding what you intend to do with the property after the sale. But, it has to be perfect or they make you make revisions. Yes the do have brakes, but no sure what kind. Go to the steelsoldiers forum and they can answer anything.
The lights wont hook straight up, they were designed for the big 6x6 trucks, but Im sure they could be rewired.
I think those trailers look cool as hell and you know they are built like tanks to last forever.
