anybody taken a cross country road trip in their tacoma? Its something ive always wanted to do. I would start in seattle and head east to NY then down the east coast and through the south/southwest and then up through cali back home. Of course stoping at all the major sites along the way. Just wondering if anybody has attempted this and if so how much $$ did you spend on gas?

Longest I went was fron AZ to NY making several stops on the way. this was in a 90's Toyota regular cab 4x4 5 speed 4cyl. Talk about uncomfortable after about a 14hr haul... I dont regret it though. It was a good experiance! I have a shit load of pictures.
I would love to drive accross country in my 06 excab. The longest drive so far in my taco was 4 hours going upstate Ny camping in out popup.

Get a group of guys from TN to get together and do a cross country road trip. Stopping at all the major sites and doing some wheeling across the way. God that would be some fun stuff.
Denver to Mesa Verde (CO) to Grand canyon to Hoover damn to Palm Desert (CA) to Meteor Crater (AZ) to Painted Desert (AZ) to Denver. Cant remember how much gas was, having too much fun! You'll get pretty good MPG's though, i think i calculated one tank at around 27mpg, but it was pretty much down hill and perhaps a tail wind.

thats pretty much cross country in my book.
i can imagine doing this when i was younger and didn't have a full time job, with... ahem... a pretty good car payment to take care of . but this does sound like a great idea actually. i wouldn't worry too much about how much everything would cost, but more, how long will the entire trip be? knowing me, I would take several stops too. who wouldn't?
I drove from Downey, CA to Cedaredge, CO which is 827.27 miles; it was supposed to take 12.5 hrs...but we made it in about 10.5. We were flying...it was sure a smooth trip. The Taco handled like a charm...a full country trip would take about a month if you were to do some site seeing.
Atlanta to NJ and back, doesn't count as "cross" country, maybe up? Went home to visit my mother last September. Did the same route in the Sienna for Thanksgiving, this time I had the 3 kids (2, 6, & 9) with me
Boulder, CO to Reno, NV by myself straight. That's over 1,000 miles in a day and then from reno to san jose the next morning. I also did Boulder, CO to Tucson, AZ in one day, and i think that's about 950 miles.
Truck ran great on both trips, the only problem was cleaning all the bugs i'd killed off the windshield when i stopped for gas cuz it was so covered that i could barely see out of it anymore both trips haha
Have done that trip three times now. First time was from Groveland Florida to Seattle washington in a VW Dune Buggy.....you did read that correctly.......and back again! Second trip was in my 1968 Z/28 - alot more fun, afain went to Seattle and back. Third trip was a one-way trip from San Diego, Ca. to Ft. Pierce, Fla. in my inherited 1957 Thunderbird. What a great trip that was! That last trip was done on I-40 and as much of the old Route 66 as possible.......a route I would highly recommend!
I did a cross country road trip this past summer and it was awesome, I didn’t really keep track of how much I spent on gas but it was a priceless trip. If your looking to save on some money let me suggest camping, It saves you a bundle and makes for a great road trip. I stayed at a lot of KOA’s and State parks, Most of them were great with nice bathrooms and showers *ok so I didn’t ruff it that much* Get yourself a nice little grill and hot plate so you can do a lot of the cooking yourself, That will save a good bit too *eating out all the time adds up*.
I would suggest you do all the National Parks you can, plan to spend plenty of time at them. Get the National Parks pass, I think it was like 80$, But that’s for a full year and includes all the N.P. very worth it. If you like biking check out Route of the Hiwawatha http://wallace-id.com/skilookout/taft.html . Cedar Point in Sandusky OH is the best place if you like roller coasters. This was a cool website I used on my trip, http://www.roadsideamerica.com/ It pointed out some of those cool little side stops along the way.
Hope this helps a bit
I just went from California to Maine a couple weeks ago in this.
limited with nav, definitely have nav!
It was definitely fun it was 4200 miles at about 20 mpg and it was about $548 in gas. theres a quick photo journal of the trip here.http://coreymichaelphoto.com/ under "a quick trip across America"
Saw a bunch of nice Tacoma's on RT49 in Cali
