Would like to see this new tech in our Tacoma engines

I don't know if it will work on 6 cyl engines but it sounds like a great idea.

Ok... maybe not on the engines because I have no complaints. But, about the 5 speed automatic transmission; maybe a taller 4th gear? Other than that.. nothing! lol

It would certainly save quite a bit on emissions, and gas costs, I hate all the stop and go traffic I have to deal with daily.

Great idea, but I doubt they could make a system intelligent enough for a manual. I bet this would only be used in automatic transmissions.

Thats awesome, its amazing they've never done this before. Not sure how well this would work on a v6 though? Timings a little closer, you might not get that 'run' you'd get with a 4 cyl. Who knows, thats great though.

I bet it would get flaky after the engine gets old or not in perfect tune.

Isn't starting one of the most stressful actions for an engine? This seems like it would cause your engine to die quicker. I think the Variable Displacement Systems would be a better technology to use for cutting consumption rates than something like this. I just seems like it would be detrimental to the engine.

Cold starting is stressful, but not hot starting. That system is almoist like the engine is still running... at zero RPM.
