paypal scam?!?

i have been trying to sell my costa del mars. here is the craigslist add

She emailed me saying she would like to purchase the glasses, and she also asked if i could ship them to Africa. I agreed to the transaction stating I was not paying a penny, she would have to take care of shipping, packaging and insurance. She agreed, i went to the post office got a quote, emailed her back. Took here a few days to actually email me and said.

"Hello Lance

Goodevening

I couldn't make this payment early due to my tight work schedules.I just managed to squeeze out time to make this payment some moments ago since i will be travelling to christmas Island tomorrow morning on a business trip.I hope you've received my payment notification from paypal.

I have already received payment confirmatory note from paypal.

Please do let me know in regards to this notification.

Thanks for this smooth transaction."

I emailed back

"I'm just waiting for the email from pay pal, depending on when it come through, I might be able to get them out today. I'm going to shine them up after I send this email."

"Are you trying to scam me or something? I have not received payment. Your phone number doesn't work. Please respond back promptly or the deal is off. You have until 5 o'clock Central time tomorrow to paypal the money to mypaypaladdress or the deal is off. I no longer feel safe in this deal."

Paypal has never takend days for me to email me saying you paid or someone paid you. Paypal response quickly.

My question? Am I in trouble in any way? I have not recieved a paymen, nor have I accpeted one. Can she sue me or something? I have proof of all emails sent and recievied and bank account/paypal records saying i have not recieved money.

I'm worried that I'm going to get in some way

Sounds like the usual Nigerian scam. Keep all your records to be safe, but most likely they are trying to get something for nothing.

Don’t ship until you receive the Paypal payment. Keep in mind once shipped and received the buyer may be able to claim they never received the items or they were damaged or not as described and attempt to get a refund from Paypal, who will come after you. See link below:

https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/we...isk-outside#Q2

Typically Paypal can send a payment in hours, but given this is out of the country might take longer.

Checking your Paypal account is the best way to determine payment status.

Personally I would pass on this sale (as would most Ebay sellers who typically use Paypal) as it is too complicated and too risky.

Find a local buyer who will pay cash, this is the Craigslist recommended method.

It would take a lot of work and $$ to sue someone located in the states from Africa.

Seems like a scam; from experience seems like the send mass responses to all the ad's on craigslist looking for fools to send items without confirming payment.
I've sold stuff on criagslist and always get emails from people supposedly from africa interested in "my item for sale" and that they would wire payment right away. They never name the specific item for sale, leads me to believe they are blind mass response emails to the ad's.

My friend was gonna rent out a house awhile back and got a response from someone in africa saying that they would send money right away to hold the house becuase they were coming here (USA) soon to work, everything they said sounded to good to be true. By the end of the email chain they wanted an bank account number so that they could wire the money!!

just forward all emails that seem like spam to spoof@paypal.com and they will get back with you within a few hours to let you know if it is a legit email or not.
