I did some moderate searching and did not come up with the anwsers I was looking for. For those who have XM or Sirius or both which do you prefer?? I am about to buy a Avic Z2 and I get the option of XM or Sirius and I cant decide. I was hoping for a little input from those who have them.
I do not have Sirius in the Tacoma but i got the stiletto 10 for My GF in her car and she loves it. I am working on a deck and system and will eventually get Sirius. I have little experience with XM so I really cannot compare. From what I have heard Sirius has better programming.
It really comes down to what kind of music you want to listen to. Both XM and Sirius have free online trials, or at least they did when I was shopping. The Grateful Dead channel and "Jam On" made Sirius the clear winner for me.
Music will be almost the same, I know there are differences but it is not like one has access to more than the other.
The main difference for me was the sports channels offered. Sirius = Football and XM = Hockey, I never miss a NFL game on tv, but I usually end up missing the NHL games (cause of work) so I opted for the XM other than that no real difference (except for Howard Stern)

I have a Pioneer P980BT and the Pioneer Sirius Tuner. The tuner plugs directly into the back of the P980BT. While the display could offer a bit more, the ease of use more than makes up for it. Not to mention you don't have an extra display to mount.
So far I only listen to about 5 stations in the three months I've had it. But, I'm starting to find out that there's more channels that interest me. Of all channels I never thought I'd listen to, the Playboy channel is one of my favorites. The stuff they talk about is quite interesting and can make traffic jams all the more fun. While I don't have experience with XM, I do have many friends with Sirius and they all love it.
Also, it seems that if you listen to the stations that offer the current music they tend to renew their play lists about every three months. I'm not sure about other people but by three months, I start to get sick of hearing the same old crap.
It's definitely better than normal radio. No doubt about that. Even when there is a pause in the music and you have to listen to the DJ they aren't bad most times. I guess the freedom to say whatever they want to doesn't hold them back like on normal radio.
Sirius if you like alternative or punk. The commercials seem to be slightly less on sirius also. But that is what I have, so every time I listen to XM(not alot but enough for me to place judgement on) I am constantly judging it and it seems all I hear is commercials or end up thumbing through every channel looking for something that will hold my attention longer than 3 songs. The one thing that I thought I would miss with the XM was the comedy, but really it is just the same clips over and over. And some jokes never get funny, but other do, really really quick. Again I vote Sirius.
For me college football>nfl and opie&anthony>howard stern. So xm was an easy choice for me. Soon enough it's probably going to be the same company. If that happens, you can pick any programming you want.
I had XM for a year, then switched to Sirius (I've had it for over a year now). I give my vote to Sirius. Hopefully the government will quit jerkin' off, and approve the merger... then it won't be an issue.
