A little off topic but I need a floor jack/stands and thought I'd throw it out there and see what everyone on TN uses. I'm not looking so spend major dough but it doesn't have to weigh 60 lbs either. Thanks
^i used that jack and it sux, started leaking hydraulic fluid in less than a year, now its totally useless and im using the stock one till i buy a better one
Aluminum jacks look cool, but I wouldn't get one. Steel FTW
I love my Craftsman Air Jack. I don't think they make it anymore.
Pb, what's the problem with aluminum jacks? I bought a 3 ton at Costco a couple weeks ago, and so far I am very happy with it. If there is a good reason to get a different one, Costco will take it back.
I like how much control I have when lowering the truck. Very smooth.

I dunno. It's probably fine, but I trust steel more. Aluminum is lighter, but it's also a lot weaker. Parts of those aluminum jacks are steel, like the steel pins, bolts, etc. and where steel and aluminum join there will usually be corrosion after a while.
Your jack is fine though. This is just my preference.
I too am curious. I have an 06 highlander and what would be the range I would need to look at? at least 21 inches? I would like to have one that would work on multiple cars & SUVS, namely my Highlander, Camry, and Avalon.
I was looking at the Torin jack 3 ton for "SUV" or maybe one at Costco. Any opinions or comments?
if you're on a budget, you can't beat craftsman jacks. i have their 3 ton unit, it does the job quite well. although the quick lift pump fail within a year, the jack still works great. i always feel confident using this heavy duty jack on any truck/suv. don't forget to get quality jack stands too.
You are taking your safety and the safety of your car in your own hands if you use those cheap made in china 2,5/3 ton jacks. I had one that just started to leak fluid in storage after a few uses. What do you expect for 20 odd bucks or so. Spend a bit and jack safely without risking damage to your ride.
