I always take my truck to visit family around NH/ME. With bikes, snowboards, or kayaks, & and all the gear/luggage and so many places/trails to go where I need the truck, it makes sense. But 1000 mi @ 20-21 mpg on 89 ($3.60) = $180. The car gets 33-34 mpg on 87 (3.50)= $105. $75 is alot on a one income famliy. While there no way I could ditch the truck for all the work/utilty it performs loacally, I guess realization that my favorite road tripper has to sit this one out, and time to pack the crap outta the little wagon.
Anyone else changin their spring/summer trip plans due to gas $?

I bought a Honda Cub . It's got a whopping 1 Gal. Tank that gets 88 miles out of it. Taking the Cub to work all week, and driving the taco on the weekends is saving me a lot of cash.
we take the ol' ladies car on trips now, mine burns entirely to much gas. What sux is i have the siruis in my truck and she just has a cd player(boring)
Wait till it hits $4.00 per gallon.
I still have '98 corolla and it gets great gas mileage-so it is my daily
driver.

well., this all sucks... Unfortunately both my vehicles love gas. I went to Providence this weekend and took the minivan only cause I needed the extra room for some family members that went with me... Unfortunately the gas mileage on the Sienna is close to the one on the truck... I love the truck so that is what I use.
Do my plans change, HELL YEAH... I am taking alot less unnecessary trips and things of the such. When I change the Sienna, which will be soon... I might get something alot more economic. Like a 7 seater Rav 4 or a Corolla.
On a similar note, I had to fill up in CT on the way back... 87 = 3.73 a gallon there...
My jaw dropped. But oh well.
I just got back from a 1100 mile (1770 KM) roadtrip. I would've loved to taken the Taco, but fuel prices are too absurd. Especially since the truck wasn't really needed. We took the little ladies '04 Accord coupe. The I4 of the Accord blows my 4.0L V6 outta the water for gas mileage.
I'm wanting to get a rail buggy to drive to work, and also play in the woods. I only live a couple miles from where I work. It would keep my truck a lot cleaner. Steam droplets get all over my truck when it's parked at work.
Where near that price here in Cali or at least here in the Central Coast .
True that I commute at least 60 miles to school 4 days a week going up hills. My gas per month was $500+ but i bought a 4 speed manuel tercel, as my commuter car, and just like the rest of you, the truck sits. i paid. 3.83 for 87 the other day
