I pity you. The commute thru PG county bites ass, especially with the bridge work and the road work on 95. I would say, having grown up in the Camp Springs/Temple Hills/Clinton areas of PG county that any affordable apartments there would not be a place I personally would be at, especially after dark.

Now I'm sure you could find a decent single family or town house there to rent. It all depends on how much you can afford a month.
A place in Waldorf or LaPlata and you could go to Accokeek the less travelled way, but it's been years since I've been thru there so I don't know if it's been built up now or not.
Another option would be St. Mary's County. St. Mary's is more rural than most of the counties in MD on the west side of the Bay Bridge.
My cousin and her family live in Accokeek and they've been there for years and they like it. However, they have a minivan so I don't know if I'd trust their opinion.
You could look at Northern VA, but you probably want to be closer to work.
