Help with tire search for 4Runner

Guys, my wife's 4Runner needs new shoes. We currently have the Michelin Cross terrain tires on there and they lasted over 50K miles. Great tire but they were expensive. I went over to tirerack.com and did some research. I'm looking for a tire with long tread life, quiet, and with good performance on wet roads. I'm leaning towards the Revos but didn't like some of the reviews about mileage on them. What would you guys get? I've narrowed it down to these.

1. Revos
2. Destination LE
3. Michelin LTX
4. Wrangler SilentArmor
5. Your choice....

4, 3, 1, 2.... in that order.

michelins are pricey, but they last a LOOOOOOONGGGG time.... worth the money, IMO.

Pb had the silent armors and liked them in wet conditions. Check out how much they weigh too compared to the stockers..... so you won't be surprised when the mileage declines.

I'd go for one of those two if it were me.

My vote is for Wrangler Silent Armors which I bought last Oct 07. Got about 10k on em now & I like them a lot other than black ice which I don't think is gonna be a problem for ya in Houston Wet Weather traction is awesome tho. Went off PBs recommendation and MHadden here at TN.

Lan, what size rim do you have on the 4Runner? I just ordered the tires for my 18" limited rims. I went with the Yoko h/t-s g051 in a 265/60. I wanted to go with a 275/60 but the choices were limited. Tirerack didn't have the yoko's in stock, I went to mavistire.com. You can also look at tire-easy.com, they have alot of different brands.
I wanted the fortera triple treds, but there is no 265/60 and the 275/60 are on nationwide backorder.

I did look at the Destination LE's, but I saw them on a saturn vue at a gas station and didn't like the way the sidewalls looked. It didn't look too strong.
Michelin LTX's are a good bet for long tread wear, I guy at work swears by them.
Wrangler SA's have excellent reviews for just about anything, but I didn't like the fact that most people reported loss of mpg. I think all of the SA's have that, real high rolling resistance.

Did you look at the LTX A/T 2's ?
Continental Crosscontact LX has very good reviews on TR.

I guess it depends on what you want out of the tire. I run mostly highway and city with a few gravel/dirt roads thrown in.

Thanks for the feedback, especially redinterceptor. My 4Runner has 16" wheels. The vehicle sees 99% highway so fuel economy and longevity are important followed closely by performance. I'll take a look at the sites you listed and the other tire recommendations too.

Narrowed my choices down to Goodyear Fortera and Bridgestone Dueler Alenza. Both rank in top 5 at tirerack. Fortera is about $15 more per tire.

Those are both good choices, Lan. Now you'll have to pick which one looks the bes in terms of sidewall and tread pattern. I really like the looks of the triple treds myself.

I went with the Bridgestone Alenza tires. I had them installed before our road trip out to San Antonio. Just got and I can report that I am happy with these tires. Smooth and quiet on the road. Ran into some heavy rain and they did well handling the wet roads. So far so good.
