Hit and Run, is it just me or does AIG Insurance SUCK?
Let me preface by saying that the above title is "in my opinion"...
Well after my hit and run incident I am now being jacked around by the perps insurance company! I got 2 estimates for roughly $2700 and AIG Insurance is trying to give me $1490!!! They absolutely refuse to do the job right!! The adjuster was a real piece of work.. he looked at my estimate and before even looking at my truck he said "well, you're not going to get that much!" This jagoff wouldn't even call me after leaving 3 messages over 3 days when I was trying to get the estimate in the first place. I threatened to have his client arested for hit and run since the Police caught her, he could have cared less! I told him that my truck wasn't a P.O.S before she hit me, it won't be when he's done with it! I have the ability to take it wherever I want and pay my $250 deductable, I'm just afraid that I'll never get that back. Both of the shops that I got estimates from recognized his name on the paperwork, they both want a piece of him from previous dealings.
Time to play the game I guess...

Is AIG your insurance company or hers. If it is hers, I would go through my own insurance company and pay my deductible and let them go after her insurance company. This is why you pay insurance, not to have to deal w/ that aggravation. When your insurance company recovers their fees from AIG they will also include reimbursement of your deductible.

+1
Your own insurance company will have more time and more clout to battle AIG. I don't know much about insurance, but this seems to be the way to go. With insurance you get what you pay for. I have Allstate which costs a little more, but I've found their service to be outstanding.

I actually have AIG.. no complaints to this point (been with em for a little under 2 years).
They took extremely good care of me when my civic was stolen. I haven't had a problem with the truck yet though, so I can't comment too much.
Here's the latest.... I took it to the dealeship where I bought it with the understanding that they would go after AIG for the difference. I'm afraid that if I leave it up to State Farm, I may lose my $250. To lose that money when I wasn't even in the vehicle would just bunch me all up!
I was told by a friend that he went thru something similar and he notified his company. He was rear ended, and the perp paid for he and his wifes 3 Chiropractor visits. Years later he tried to negotiate a better rate with another company and that showed up on his record causing him not to save the $$$ that he hoped to. They said that it showed a higher risk of incident. If it were my fault, maybe I could swollow it.
