I always have to do TWO transactions at the gas station bc the pump automatically stops at $75.00 and at that point, my truck isn't full yet. it only takes a little bit more after that, but I like to top it off so that I can gauge my mpg on every tank.
I buy at Sam's Club for a consistent 5 cent discount when in the area. Filled up for $65 @ $3.65 on Friday, traveled 200 miles to the OBX, filled at 3/4 tank at $3.90&9/10 before I left for home. I had 5 $10 Shell Gas Cards and $0.94 left for my Discover card
I'm so glad I'm getting my 85 Pickup inspected this weekend. 55$ to fill up with premium compared to the 75$ for my Tacoma. Not to mention this thing gets 21MPG compared to my 15.5MPG in the Tacoma.
And I have to run premium in my 85. For some reason it doesn't like the 10% Ethanol. Either I run premium or remember to ALWAYS have a bottle of octane boost in the car. Considering the difference between a tank of regular and premium costs about as much as octane booster, I'll stick with premium. At least this way I'm not screwed if I forget it.
4.39 in town, 4.74 out in hana. may be over 5.00 per gal over on lanai.
price gouging is common here. the papers talk about it once and awhile but the local govt. is too corrupt to do anything about it.
they are so greedy they run our electricity plants with jet fuel. that's right, big 'ol turbines just cranking away night and day. the trucking lobby won't let them run a pipeline from the dock to the powerplant. they drive it over in semis. what a waste. most expensive electricity in the nation according to the paper last week.
I purchased my 06 Speedway Blue 4 door TRD Off Road about a month ago, trading in my 14 year old one ower 1994 Ford F150. I went from a truck that was doing good to get 13 MPG to a new to me truck that I am routinly getting 23 MPG. Yes I have changed my driving habbits too. Easy on the go peddle and use the cruse alot.
I also buy my gas at Sam's Cub which is usually 8 to 10 cents cheaper than the low price gas stations.
Local gas is $3.77 Sam's is 3.68 right now.
When I bought my truck the dealer gave me a $500.00 gas program. The way it works is every time I send in a $100.00 worth of receipts the send me a check for $25.00.
the plan is good for three years and will pay up to $500.00. this helps my cost.
I also went to my boss and discussed my loss of income due to the increase of gas verses what cost were when I hired on. He would not give me a raise but did agree to buy me a tank of gas every other week to ofset my expense. He gets to claim the cost on his taxes and I basically get a tax free raise. works for me.
I also purchased a locking gas cap for my truck, it wont be longe before gas theft starts happening on a routine basis.

I read today on MSN.com that thieves are just punching a hole into the bottom of the gas tanks. SUV's and trucks are easy targets due to their ground clearance.

id rather not have a locking gas cap......if they want your gas, they'll get it if your theif has half of a brain.
