I froze a screen on my camera this winter so im a little worried that leaving my i pod in the truck on a hot day will ruin it. anyone know if it will i live in Alabama its about 90 degrees outside right now. its going to get a lot hotter than that this summer will that ruin the screen?
I keep mine in the cubbie hole on the right side of the steering wheel. It's been in there for about the past year. I've worried about the heat also, when i get in the truck after work and the ipod is blazing hot to the touch, but as of yet it hasn't malfunctioned. Ya'll might be a little hotter than us, but in SC we see our fair share of 100 degree days. Hopefully it isn't shortening it's life.
I use my ipod in hot weather all the time. I've used it outdoors in excess of 100 degrees while doing yardwork for several hours straight. Its yet to have any problems of any sort.
I live in Vegas, we have some of the most brutal summers in the country and my iPod has yet to fail me. It's connected to my Avic D3 95% of the time, the only time it leaves my truck is when I'm going to the gym.

i left mine in my old truck all summer, and i dont think it gets much hotter anywhere else consistantly, 115+ outside the car. i think you should be ok, it did kill my phone tho
I've broken two screens on my iPod and had to replace the battery once. I know that it's generally hard on batteries to be hot, but I know the screens were my fault and had nothing to do with the heat.
For the most part it's just as hot up here in TN as it is in AL during the summer, and I leave mine hooked up to my Pioneer HU anytime it's convenient. It stays in the glove box and has never been hot to the touch in my experience, so I think if you keep it there or in the console you're probably okay.
I replaced the battery after I think four years of use, so if the heat made an impact it wasn't a huge one. The battery was cheap to replace, too, relative to the cost of most iPod repairs - about $30 shipped and the install was cake.

Just make sure you don't leave the screen in direct sunlight because it can ruin it. So if you leave it in a mount that exposes it to direct sunlight you may want to move it to underneath the seat when you leave it.
