The formulation of gas where you live

I was just curious if there was ethanol in my gas. After doing some research, I found a couple of maps to give others an idea of what gas requirements are throughout the U.S. I thought some people might be interested.

I found out that my area has just over 10% ethanol, which explains while my average mpg is a little lower than many others.

The third link below is very informative regarding the composition of fuel in many areas of the U.S.

Good info for summer travels and where to avoid Ethanol gas if your can. I lose 5% mpg on E10% even though EPA says only 2%. In my tests (I have 100% gas here) its always 1 mpg loss returning from NH or VA where they have E10% gas. Wife's car loses 2mpg.

Doesn't sound like alot, but at $4+ a/gallon want maximum mileage.

Hey, thanks for the link. I knew we were year-round here. I thought it was the whole west coast since someone in the forums in Washington state mentioned they were year-round too.

The state of Wisconsin mandates 10% ethanol. I did notice a drop in mileage
when the law went into effect, but it is even more clear when I fill up in Minnesota where ethanol is not mandated.

In my experience it is ~2 mpg drop which makes a noticeable difference in the range capacity of a tank of gas.
