Talking How long have you owned a Tacoma and why?

I have owned a Tacoma for 7 years now. I owned a 1998 Tacoma Xtra Cab (219,000 miles strong) and it was bought back because of the frame issue. I recently purchased a 2006 Tacoma Double Cab TRD offroad. The truck is awesome!

The reason I own a Tacoma is that they are the best built mid-size trucks on the market. I wouldn't buy anything other than a Toyota.

I owned (made payments on) a 95.5 from 1999 to 2003. I then got a 2001 in 2003 and had that until 2006 when I bought the current. I think once you have a truck, you can't regress to a car. You're just used to having certain capabilities that you can't do without. Before I bought this 05 I really thought I was buying a car, but I ended up in a third tacoma. They are great trucks and I've liked each new one more then the last

I got a 1998 Tacoma the year I graduated... didn't get such good grades freshmen year of college so the mom took it back lol

After landing a good job the first thing I did was buy my mom a car (BMW X3) and myself a new Tacoma. Best purchase ever! These forums are the worst idea ever! (my want list is a mile long!)

I've driven a truck since I was 15, 36 years now. I rarely have need for a full size truck. But a guy just has to have a truck. I buy Toyota for the reliability factor plus I just like the Tacoma styling. Love my new speedway blue 08.

Owned my Taco since December 27th, 2007. I bought it because I waned reliable, versatile, and fun to drive transportation.

It was between the Taco, FJ, and Jeep JK. Sometimes I wish I had bought the JK. Not because I have any problems with my Taco or dislike it, but having convertible, 4x4, and solid rear+front axles is tempting.

I too have driven a truck ever since I started driving, never owned anything else but trucks since that point. My first Tacoma was a 2000 TRD Offroad and it was probably the biggest purchase mistake I ever made, I bought the truck from a previous owner that beat the living hell out of it offroad and problems with the truck did not become apparent until after a few weeks of owning it. After I got rid of that I decided to buy my pop's 2005 Tacoma which is what I currently own right now, my parents have owned nothing but Toyota vehicles since as far back as I remember and I can attest to their reliability. I don't think I'll ever be able to buy another used vehicle unless I knew the previous owner and was sure that they took good care of the car.

I should add that I've owned a Tacoma since late 1998, bought a lightly used 97 then.

I bought my first new Toyota, a 1987 Silver Xtra cab SR5 4x4 Turbo (22RTE) when I was 26....

Next came a 1990 XCab SR5 4x4 V6
followed by a 1995 Xcab SR5 4x4 V6
followed by a 2004 Tundra DC 4x4 V8
Now a 2006 DC SR5 4x4 V6

The Tundra was an awesome truck, but too big for my needs.
Definitely the tacoma fits me & my lifestyle plus in all those trucks nothing but normal maintenance & lots of miles.

I started out driving Nissan Hardbody pickups ('86 and '90), then went with a '96 GMC fullsize, which was a mistake. After that, I looked for something similar to the hardbody, but liked the looks of the new Taco better, so I bought an '07 AC 4x4 OR. It's been a great truck, but I'd expect no less from a Toyota. I was thinking about shopping around again, but I really like my Taco and there's no reason to trade it. I think I'll keep it for as long as I can.

This is my first Tacoma however I did previously own a pre-taco. It was my first ride and I drove it for a few years before moving to a Trans Am.

This is actually the second Toyota truck I have owned.I have had this one for just over a year.My first one I had was back in 1977.I have owned a few Toyota cars and other vehicles that fit my needs over the years.I sold a 06 Dodge MegaCab 4x4 to get my Tacoma. That was an awesome truck, but that Hemi was burnin the fuel at a rate that was painful to the wallet! These Tacos are also awesome and they are everywhere you go.

I've had mine since late April, got it because the Silverado was being like my last GM and falling apart, realized I didn't need/want a fullsize and so it came down to the Taco and the Frontier, as the rest of the offerings aren't even close IMO. Ended up liking the Taco more, so a bunch of paperwork later here we are.

Again, What mod moved this? What do you guys think needs to be in a forum? This is semi redundant yes, but still has 100% relevance to the subject "tacoma" in a "constructive" way.

Stop moving threads.
