I did a search and saw a couple comments about the eventual Tacoma complete redesign. One comment talked about 2010 and another mentioned 2012. My brother wants a new Tacoma and really likes the current body style, but can't swing it until late next year. There may be a few 2009's left over then, and they may not redesign until 2012. Has anybody heard or read anything definitive about when Toyota is going to change the Tacoma ? Any sneak peek spy pics out there of what they are thinking about ?
Nothing that I have seen. There has been guys around here saying that a diesel option would be possibility because they are available overseas. I personally think they are going to come out with a new V6 that shuts down two cylinders when not needed to save fuel. Your guess is as good as anyone's as far as your question goes.
Also, I bet they downsize a bit more like the last generation.

I'd like to see fuel cutoff when decelerating, 2 cylinder cutoff at constant speeds, engine shutoff when idling.

I think it's a logical progression. Plus if Honda and Dodge are using it Toyota can't be far behind. The more I think about it we might see it in the Tundra first. Just a thought, not knowing much about how the system works and if its even possible. It would be a cool if they were able to flash the ECM or something to accomplish this on our trucks.
Its not due for a redesign till 2012 at the earliest. Diesel will not happen in the United States. Not nearly enough demand for it, especially with the prices of Diesel fuel. Another aspect is that there is going to be a Tundra diesel, they don't want any competition for that.

Says the guy the xb
LOL! But my wife thinks the xB is "cute' and has named it Nemo.
I was just kidding anyway. I love throwing raw meat to the Taco Pitbulls!
i agree with 2012... they just refreshed the taco for 2009... that should be good for at least 3 years... So we'll either see another refresh or a whole new design in 2012...

from what ive heard the dodge's use some type of hydraulic system to deactivate cylinders...don't ask me how it works but i was read something like that...
and a diesel option would be nice...but i think it would just be too much of a price increase over the gas engines

It's not a "refresh", it's the exact same design. All they've done is add some standard equipment. The most likely redesign would be model year 2011 since Toyota typically has a 6 year product cycle.
