Angry Any you think YOU have it bad!

On Sunday (07-13-2008) morning, my wife and I were on our way to Wal-Mart in Windsor California to get some medications, which were not available in the Rohnert Park store location. As we merged onto hwy 101 North from the hwy 12 onramp, we could see a large of what looked like debris plume rising from the hwy 101northbound lanes by the Bicentennial Way Exit in front of us. I slowed down dramatically as the cars in front of us scattered to avoid flying road debris but it was too late, even being 10 car lengths back did not spare us from being peppered from the road debris which was caused by the hwy 101 lane expansion project. The road base itself was coming apart, the contractor or Cal-trans failed to clean or properly seal the road surface thereby causing the damage to our vehicle. I can only imagine what could have happened if a motorcyclist were caught up in this, surely there would have been a loss of life.*************************************************

That's what happened folks! The ENTIRE front of our truck had to be repainted, (was peppered with rock chips) new windshield and grill and now myself and my insurance company are trying to get my deductible & damage expenses back from the SOB CONTRACTOR responsible for this mess. So, if you care about your truck, STAY AWAY from the hwy 101 junction just north of Santa Rosa.

WOW, that really bites. Good luck getting the money back out of the contractor... or whoever is at fault.

I have to think I wasn't the ONLY person that filed a claim, I mean it was like asphalt rain and there was no way avoiding it. You just have to LOVE the way they fix California roads.............NOT!!!

Use to live in Novato many years ago. Glad I got out of California. Hope your insurance nails the contractor. No use putting a claim in against the State. You don't have a budget yet.

The latest from the insurance company is that the contractor has 21 days to pony up the money, if at that time they don't pay, then it goes to arbitration or something like that. They then have another 21 days to file a response before it then goes to collections. OH YEA! In the meantime I'm stuck with a hole in my wallet!!

I know what you mean about California, I've lived here all my life and I've NEVER seen it as bad as it is now, I don't know what happened, it was like a blight of STUPIDITY struck the State all at once.

Last year, I visited Silver Springs Nevada...California refugees as far as the eye can see (though not much else to look at). I'm sure the Governator's tax increases to balance the budget will send a few more over the wall.
