i give it two weeks after the election and gas will go up no matter what
the will be two scenrios:
Obama Wins: Gas companys say the democrats are taxing them too much and they have to push this on to the consumer
Mccain wins: Republican party says there is problems in iran and they are holding us off on gas (prices are going up) and they have crazy weapons that will blow us all away and we will go to war and prices will go up even more

correction actually, two weeks after the inauguration

both of you are wrong and right. the reason that gas is so cheap right now is because oil futures are low. this is due to the recession that has affected nearly the entire civilized world. speculators suggested that because of the recession that oil consumption would go down. now OPEC has cut production to keep the prices high, but they will go back up. you can guarantee that. our economy runs a natural cycle and right now we are in a recession. the media has been talking recession for years, but the fact is that GDP has not shown it. It did at one point this year, but has actually shown growth as of the last time they reported. NOW, the election does have something to do with it. Both candidates claim that they will "fix" the economy, but people are still losing jobs and the ones that aren't are scared to spend money. With Obama's socialism and McCain's bomb-em-all attitude, i must say i'm a little nervous too.
getting to the point. enjoy it, next summer we'll be back at $5/gallon again.
