So I've issued a friendly challenge to a friend of mine thats gonna take place next Saturday at a local off-road shop.
We want to see whose truck will do better on an RTI ramp.
I have a 08 double cab TRD OR Tacoma, stock aside from new tires. He has a GMC Sonoma (S-10) with the ZR2 package (go here to see what a ZR2 package entails http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPO_ZR2. I've wheeled with him plenty of times and the ZR2 package makes the S10 a decent trail rig. Who do you guys think will do better on the ramp?
^Or how about a "bring your S10 in for transmission service 5 times in 6 weeks" contest (this was me, manual trans, the freaking dealership didn't figure out there was a TSB until the 5th visit)?

OUCH! Maybe they just need $20+ Billion thrown at them to figure it out faster?

I voted S-10, due to the fact you have a double cab, and he has an extended cab. Shorter wheel base will get you higher up the ramp. If he has a double cab as well, then change my vote to the Taco.

After doing a brief search, the GMC looks like the rear is Sprung Under axle while the tacoma is Sprung over axle. And in theory, the sprung over axle vehicle will have the advantage.

It will all depend on which rig is geared better (not hp but low gear ratio.) Also, lockers will be an advantage...
