sorry a lil A.D.D. there but back to the point. i think Toyota could come up with an efficient, clean, low smog Tacoma. they've established that with the concept Tundra, a thing of BEAUTYYYY. but at least i wish they could come up with a limited edition diesel Tacoma, maybe only 2,000 produced? i would be at the top of the list!!!

The resale of the Tacoma is a big plus.
BUt I'll agree to disagree that the upkeep of a 5.9L Cummins Ram is anything extreme. If anything the upkeep is fairly cheap. My 06' has an oil change interval of 15K. It has a serviceable engine life of 250,000-300,000 miles.
If the tranny isnt abused it will hang in there for a good 180K.
The ball joints are a weak link and need to be replaced in the 4x4 models about every 80K. If you get the good ones that are greasable they will go much longer.
UP and down the hwy's and byways of America all day every day there are high mileage Cummins powered Dodges pulling cars to and from auctions, Pulling heavy equipment, Granpa's 5th wheel. Jimmys Quads, or just plain lifted and chipped and making trouble.
I love the resale and the perception of longevity with the Tacoma. Thats why I bought one....Another one!
But I do not expect to be driving around my Tacoma with 200K+ miles. Whilst I fully expect to work my Ram to about 220K before selling it off and getting another. Its a tool. Tacoma is a car.
My Ram has 60K hard trailer towing, digging through snow, bouncing up and down dirt roads miles. Its always running and leads a hard life.
I havent spent a single dime on a failed component. Not one thin dime. And chipped with an aftermarket exhuast and putting out 400 HP and 800Ft #'s of earth rotating torque it gets better mileage on the hwy than my tacoma.
