I went out to my truck this morning, and somebody had wiped their hand through the mist on the driver's side windows (presumably to see what was inside). They didn't break in, or take anything. But, luckily while the car they were driving was idling outside our house, my mom was taking the garbage out (around 2:30 am since we forgot to do it earlier in the night). Anyways, she got a look at the car, and described it as a mid 90s dark color (black or blue) Chevy Caprice or Ford Crown Victoria. Possibly even a later Lincoln Towncar. Anyways, I have a feeling they were scoping our house and cars for a potential break-in, and they might be checking out other areas near by. My g/f's FJ was also wiped. So maybe they're looking for a Toyota to steal, or just electronics. It was weird though. I had my ipod sitting out in the open, and they didn't break in to take it. They just looked and moved on. I'm in Orinda, near Lafayette and Berkeley, so just keep an eye out.
Just a reminder that in these tough times, this kind of thing is going to start happen more often. Lock your house when you leave, and keep electronics inside. Anyways, I'm off to go buy some dove shot just in case. Have a happy new years everybody.
thanks for the heads up man. i wish i can park the taco in the garage, but its too damn big for that.
i gotta agree with the crime thing. my neighborhood is pretty good, like i would sometimes accidently leave my old car unlocked overnight and everything would be cool in the morning. but a couple of months ago, my gf's car got broken into in front of my house and stole her gps. thats it! had to get the window replaced and everything.
i hope your thief doesnt make his way to union city
Glad you dodged a bullet this time. Definitely a good reminder to be extra careful these days. Lock everything and keep anything valuable out of sight or out of the vehicle.
I agree with everyone, keep things locked up and away from prying eyes. Out of sight, out of mind. I have family who lives in Walnut Creek, my uncle just got promoted to Battalion Chief for the Orinda Fire Department, anyway they have motion sensor lights aimed at their cars. I don't know if it helps any, but they like the idea.
