Help with Discount Tire

I went to get in new tires for my truck the other day, size 265/70/17, not an uncommon size. Discount didn't carry the brand I wanted so they ordered it. They told me it would arrive the next day and they set up an appointment. So I arrive the next day and the associate takes my payment and tells the techs to start tearing my truck apart. They have one wheel unmounted when they stop. The manager comes out and tells me they don't have my tires. I was like "What!". You would think they would have checked that critical fact first. I tell them to put my truck back together and that I would come back when the new tires arrive (probably on Friday 11/2). I was pretty calm about it.

Well, this morning I check my tires and wheels and find that they scratched the hell out of one of the wheels. I am so pissed off!

What should I do when I go in on Friday? Weld doesn't sell my wheels anymore.

Keep your cool. Then get them to admit they damaged them. Then tell them to find the wheel (which they won't). Now get them to give you one hell of a deal on the tires so you can use the money they cost you to replace the rims.

That sucks. Look on your receipt, hopefully it says 1 year warranty on the finish.

once you take possession and take it off their property they aren't responsible for it. Most likely they will just say that they didn't cause it, and if you noticed it earlier, you should have reported it then. Good luck, I hope it works out, but it's going to be an up hill battle.

Thanks guys. We'll see what happens. I don't trust them with my truck now. Maybe I can get a good discount on the tires and have another shop mount and install them.

i hope you paid with a creditcard.... if so...
have them fix their damage on your wheel, and or cancel your special order.
you have grounds because they've proven their craftmanship is defective.
