Jumping into your truck.

Anyone else ever bust their ass trying to get into your truck?

The other day I went to jump into my truck, my usual technique is to kinda throw my right leg in as I'm pushing off with my left foot, to land butt first into the seat, all while ducking at just the right moment so I don't smash my head on the grab handle. It's pretty much poetry in motion.

This time I grabbed the handle as I put my first foot in, since it there was a bunch of snow and ice on the ground. Well I'm really glad I had the handle, because when I went to push off with my other foot, it slipped, and I came down pretty hard on the rocker panel, just short of landing comfortably in the seat. The only reason I didn't fall completely out of my truck was because I had a grip on the bar.

Needless to say, I have a bruise on the side of my ass, and I was wondering if I'm the only one that this has happened to.

Nerf Bars: Step here first, kick off ice/snow from bottom of shoes, sit in seat.

Non-Nerf Bars: Enter at your own risk!

Get running boards. They'll make it easier to clean the windshield or wax the roof, plus they'll protect the paint along the rocker panels and rear fenders.

I've got some sliders in the mail. I'm not sure if they'll help me getting in and out much though. Glad everyone's getting a laugh.

Well since we're embarrassing ourselves,I wasn't going to tell anyone, but the nice scar I have between my eyebrows is from the top corner of my door. Was in a hurry to a golf match one morning after working all night and somehow opened the door right into my face.It cut me good;a cut like a corner,1/2" each way and bled like a stuck pig.I had blood dripping off my nose b4 I could get a rag.I shoulda got stitches, but I chose golf instead, nothing like a good pain pill & 10 beers to ease that throb between the eyes! Now I have a reminder everytime I look in the mirror.

^I have a similar story, but mine didn't involve the corner of my door, rather a riflescope

Yea, I had a buddy who left the eyeglasses holder down in his truck, so when he got in, he cracked his head right on the corner of it.

Being 6'2" I don't have any of those issues getting into my truck, and the steps would only end up turning my shins black and blue. I'm more comfortable getting into my Tacoma than I am getting into my wife's Volvo C30.

I do this occasionally too. Not thrilled about the location but what can you do?

I still find myself wanting to go to the center console to release the e-brake every once in a while... Throw back to my old car. It's only been 10 months.

Not in this truck but my old Silverado with the plastic/rubber floor (no carpet- base model). I was still working at the dealership and the carwash kid offered to do a complete clean for real cheap. He did an excellent job outside but that night when I went to get in I put one foot in to hop into the cab and as I'm sliding in (all my weight on that foot) I slip because the bastard armor-all'd the floor and went flying to the ground. Thankfully it was just bark mulch.... and no one saw it.
