Why does everyone cover their plates when they post a pic?

I was just wondering, I mean I've posted pictures of my truck a few times, but I just did it because everyone else did. (Inb4 jumping off a bridge) But is there any real reason to it besides not wanting other TN members to know who you are? (I guess for some this is a good thing...6shooter would kick my ass just on principle.)

People are scared that based off the license plate number, people could determine their address.

I've never concealed my plate, I guess I figure I don't have anything worth stealing. Now if I owned a tricked out Porsche, this may be a different conversation.

Well i cover mine because it was on the truck when I got it and it's kind of "ha-ha it's ambigous" funny...and I haven't gotten a chance to change it. It's kind of grown on me though.

I guess that in theory this is a forum where we can all remain anonymous. We don't use our real names (for the most part) as our user names. We don't list our addresses or phone numbers, why list your plate number then? In this virtual world we live in here at TN, most people really don't know who you are and showing your plate might not keep it that way.

Haha I would love to have someone come steal from me or attempt to come to my house! I wouldnt even use my rifles, shotguns, or semi-auto 22, just use my semi auto BB handgun and just make it really hurt. Dont want to kill anyone! Just hurt them to the point where they learn their lesson.

license plates #s are public info. if you give me your plate #, i can tell you your address. not that i dont trust u guys on TN, but visitors can see pics too. just being mindful. this is the US, not Canada. theft is a problem
