The *Official* Pismo Beach meet thread

This is the official Pismo Beach meet thread

The meet will take place from Friday March 6th until mid day sunday March 8th

General information about the dunes can be found here:
http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1207

a Map of where it is located:
http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Oc...00+Pier+Avenue

I will be trying to set up a contact list so that we can all be in touch while trying to meet up and establish some camping spots. There will be some of us camping, as well as a few people who are going to stay in town in hotels. Please PM me your phone number and Email address so a few days prior to the trip i can email everyones number and the final info on the trip

I need someone to volunteer (hopefully someone local) to be a contact for friday to get everyone in the same area. I wont be up there until about 6pm so i cannot fill this role.

Bring your trucks, ATV's, Girlfriends, Boyfriends, whatever you would like. If there are any surfers out there I am bringing my board to see if there is anything surfable that is semi close to the dunes.

If you are interested in renting any ATV's here are some links:
http://www.stevesatv.com/
http://www.pismoatvrentals.com/atv_prices.htm
http://bjsatvrentals.getswc.com/special.cfm?pagenum=162

For those who are camping:
There are campfires allowed on the beach, we can all either have our own fires or make a super big one? my advise is to bring some wood and we can sort it all out when we get there...

Flags for your truck are recommended for safety of yourself and other people

If anyone knows of any other info that should be shown up here please post it and i will edit it into the top posting for reference

I recommend camping in the dunes, off sand highway @ milemarker 13, close enough to bathrooms for the ladies but away from the open beach where wind will be strong. Easy enough paths that PreRunners can make it out.

Fire size is limited due to a local burning man thing that happened there 3 years ago. 1-2 fires should be fine, built right they get hot. Lighter fluid is a must. No pallet wood. No wood with nails in it, the Rangers wont let you in with it.

I recommend someone bring a charcoal grill. BBQ is the name of the game @ Pismo and drinking lasts longer with food in you. I might have one to bring too but with a large group, more grills = more food done @ same time.

Bring warm clothes, it can get cold out there at night, sometimes really cold. Especially if someone gets stuck or breaks @ night, you'll be glad you brought layers.

All night trips should be 2 or more vehicles. Shit does happen out there at night, I've seen it. We want everyone to make it home ok.

No good surf on the drivable sections of Pismo but nearby yes. Wetsuit recommended (4/3 is the standard for the area)

Tow straps help but lacking those a 2'x4' mat or piece of carpet can help you out of being stuck, a shovel is a good idea to have @ camp in case someone decides to bury their vehicle to the frame.

That's all I can think of for now, I'm sure I'll think of more.

Was just there this past weekend. All too easy for the most part except a few really decimated dune faces that were softer than hell. Only a scant few vehicles made it up them.

Theres only a couple challenging trails out there, but plenty of easy trails to explore back there. Some of the roads just go on for miles..

I'm good to go, i'll be leaving sat. or maybe friday night and crash at a friends house. Camping is 50/50 depending on weather. Duno what everyone is doing those days, me and my gf prob gona rent some atv's early before heading out in the truck in the dunes. Figure out whats out there before getting into something difficult.

You're right, there isn't really anything difficult at pismo - it's mainly just a playground for havin fun and partying.

Those that haven't been there, be careful what you do on the shoreline and near campsites, the rangers will pop ya for sure. I got a ticket for cruising down the shoreline and not having the strap tied on my helmet.
