Question Career Advise

Tacoma buddies I need some help ..Ok well, here it goes. I'm 28 just about 29. I worked at an oil refinery, I liked the people I worked with, I made good money. But the working environment, chemicals and dust started to get to me. So I made up my mind and for the betterment of my long term health I quit.

I would like to go into a trade. What type of trades can you guys recomend to me? Maybe something thats not the norm but you can make good money at. I'll consider pretty much any kind of trade although I'm not too interested in Welding.

Start taking some fire tests dude. You're not gonna get rich, but you'll love what you're doing (most people at least) and have good benefits and retirement.

As for trades, if I were in your shoes I would do construction or be a mechanic. Always wanted to work those jobs just to learn how to do everything

I'm a plumber (licensed Master). I run a Plumbing Department in a large maintenance facility, job is enjoyable. Pay is pretty good and I always have side work lined up (which I hate doing).

I'm a heavy equipment operator, www.iuoelocal793.org. its fun driving backhoes, excavators, skidsteers and the like. however it is dusty, loud and outdoors if you can handle that you can make 50+ in some good years. Lay-offs are common, i'm laid-off now and have been since dec19. too expensive to dig through frost!! I have friends who are millwrights and if I could afford going through the apprenticeship i would go into that or maybe electrician. good luck
