Has anyone seen any pictures of the 2010 Tacoma? I heard that they were going back to a smaller version. I would like to see a 4dr 4cyl. with a 5 speed tranny. I would jump all over that.I'm out for fuel mileage and dependability.

idk where you heard that, but i wouldn't expect it. back in '04 when i was asking the local dealers about the change for '05, they said the newer, bigger, midsize is a definite and that toyota was also thinking about keeping the generation 1 as well. that never happened, obviously. i wouldn't count on a change.
Well from what I can determine and what the dealers are telling me, Toyota vehicles usually run in 5 year cycles. Keep the same body design for five years with a few minor changes, then redesign after the five year mark. I can;t wait to see what Toyota has in store for us.
You wont see anything major til at least 2012... as they just did an update for the 09's... heck the last gen truck looked the same forever... other than the two head/taillight updates they did.
I would love to see a smaller truck. Everybody wants to go bigger. They have 2 sizes. Keep one full size for the heavy hauler and keep one small for the economy type person.I think they would sell very well.

ditto. a small crew cab (family/fun) would be great. the features/ bloat of todays trucks is just appalling. i really don't need a $35,000 tacoma, i need a four door (fuel efficient) TRUCK to haul the wife/kids around !

The 2010 Tacoma should look the same, with the state of the global economy I don't think we'll see a totally new model until about 2012. I also don't think they are going to go back to the compact truck, look around do compact vehicles even exist anymore ? If fuel economy is a major concern for Toyota, we might just get an optional diesel engine with the Tacoma (the Japanese 4 Runner has a diesel engine).

are you listening toyota ?
^ I disagree! If you want a fuel efficient vehicle it ain't gonna happen in our trucks. Go buy a Prius!
The new Hilux has some cool features but overall I think it looks like ass! I will keep to my current style and body lines!

if they put the diesel that the hilux uses in the taco for 2010 then the fuel mileage issue would go away. if nothing else, they should at least look into that.
